official red ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle
I think everyone has at least one gift that stands out as the most memorable from one's childhood. Some have a couple that really stand out. I have a few that I loved more than any other and remember to this day. One was a present I actually asked for and one was a present I didn't.
1. My parents always did a pretty good job picking out gifts on their own. I don't really remember ever having much input or asking for anything specific very often. One such gift my parents picked out was a dinosaur. I used to love dinosaurs (as a typical young boy). One Christmas was completely dinosaur themed. My favorite dinosaur toy was a giant inflatable dinosaur that had a remote control. It was bigger than me I think. It was awesome.
2. The one time I do remember actually wanting a specific toy very badly and actually asking for it (and getting it) was a voice activated toy car. You could tell the car what to do and it would listen. For example, if you said "get over here" it would start driving forward. I don't remember the name of it, but I loved that car.
In other news, I've discovered something recently about presents. When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to see what presents I got for Christmas. Getting presents was the coolest. And then the rest of Christmas, playing with presents was the coolest. I don't know when the transition took place, but as I got older, I began appreciating giving gifts more. Nothing beats seeing the face of the person opening a gift you gave them. I imagine that the feeling will increase as a parent when seeing the joy of my child. Regardless, there was a point where, without even knowing it, I learned that it truly is better to give than to receive.
Feel free to let me know your favorite present growing up. I think it's always fun to see what other people wanted and got.

My favourite Christmas toy was a Thumbelina doll that my aunt picked up for my mother in NY. Somewhere along my growth it got tossed out. Bill got me one several years ago. (Little girls never outgrow their favourite doll, even if she just sits on her dresser). So Thumbelina is my favourite twice! =>
Like you I have grown to realy love giving presents. And there is nothing like watching your kidlets open them on Christmas morning. It is a blast and nothing compares!
Ny favorite Christmas present had to be my Tonka Fire Truck... you remember back in the day when they were actually made of metal, the lights didn't really work and the only siren noise was coming from my mouth... then I gave it to Christopher Barratt... I think it may have lasted a day before he absolutely destroyed it!!! BTW I find it really humerous that I don't recall either one of favorite Christmas presents... one I do remember of yours though was the CLOWN BLANKET!!!!
This is a post regarding your Christmas music post: If I had a list of the worst bands/albums out there, those would make my top 3. It was really funnt until I realized you weren't joking. Aye, aye, aye!!!! Go listen to some Bing Crosby or something, my goodness!!!!
I like Bing Crosby and understand people not likely the three albums I mentioned, but calling them the worst is simply unreasonable.
Two things to tell you:
1: MP3 player. Best gift I've evr gotten. Last year. I thought I didn't get it until there was 'mysteriosly' another present that I hadn't seen before.
2: When will you have kids? Well, I guess I know why you don't yet. You're afraid that you'll have another Cassidy or Sheesh on your hands.
my favorite as a kid... nintendo. the original. as an adult...yes, i have to say it and be mushy...my engagement ring. :o) and the question that came with it, of course. from this year...my camera. :o)
