power failure
I was sitting at work knocking out a few blogs when the power went out. It was only out for 3 minutes and almost instantaneously the generator kicked on and the computers were operating again. But it got me to thinking. It's amazing how reliant we are on electricity and power in general. We talk about how much more advanced we are than our forefathers and there is certainly a lot of truth to that. But in some ways, it's like we're worse off.
As soon as the power went off, people came out of their offices and congregated around the security desk. Nobody knew what to do. Back in the olden days, when there was no electricity, they would never be in that situation. I mean, clearly I'd rather have electricity and be confused about what to do when it goes out than not have it at all. I guess the failure just made me realize that we have become so ridiculously dependent on it.
Also, I work for a pharmaceutical company. Experiments can potentially be ruined by such a power failure. It's like, we've become a slave to electricity. I'm overstating it a little, I know, but let's face it, when large areas have lost power for an extended period of time, people don't know what to do. I mean, nobody could even read this blog. How sad.

power failure...
Sometimes, I actually enjoy a good power outage. I know it sounds weird but it gives us a reason to just relax and read a book by candle light or play a board game or something. Or best of all, stop working if in the office. I wouldn't want to lose it completely though.
I depend on electiricity a lot. As you know, I do blogs, read blogs, play webkinz, and more. I watch TV and play vidio games. I love electiricity!
What will really be sad is when the machines and all other technology rise up, turn on us and we start living the Termninator movies.
